Prior to founding FastStart Communications, Kathleen was responsible for global media relations within IBM’s Software Group. In this role, she was also involved in developing advocacy initiatives with academia, non-profits and industry associations as well as editing and contributing to industry books published by IBM Press. Prior to IBM, Kathleen managed public relations for software provider Concord Communications (later acquired by CA). At Concord, she led the company’s communications campaigns in the U.S., UK, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, and South Africa.

Kathleen’s agency experience was gained at Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s largest public relations agencies. During her seven years at Weber, Kathleen managed accounts that spanned start ups, mid-sized companies and global organizations, and was also involved in new business development efforts as well as training and development of staff.

She has guided small businesses on public relations strategy, led communications efforts for mergers and acquisitions, and has fostered strong relationships with journalists, analysts and industry influencers. Kathleen has earned quality coverage for her clients in broadcast, business, and online media outlets. Some of these include: CNBC, CNNMoney, The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Tribune, The Financial Times, and The New York Times, among others. She has also earned coverage for her clients in every leading IT trade and vertical industry publication.

Expanding her public relations and marketing communications skills, Kathleen earned certification with Honors Distinction in inbound marketing through the HubSpot Inbound Marketing University.

When it comes to content creation and strategy, Kathleen has written copy for websites, case studies, fact sheets, white papers, newsletters, brochures, sales presentations, and more than 100 executive bylines that have appeared in leading business and trade publications. Additionally, she has ghostwritten two business technology books that have been published by Pearson and Wiley.

She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange, and Astia, a non-profit Silicon Valley based organization dedicated to advancing high growth businesses founded by women entrepreneurs. Additionally, Kathleen is an adjunct faculty member at her alma mater, Emerson College, where she teaches courses on “Principles of Public Relations” and “Writing for Marketing Communications.”
