Kathleen
Keating is the principal and founder of FastStartPR, a communications consultancy that provides emerging companies and agencies
with on-going or short term public relations support. Kathy has more than 15 years of high tech public relations and
marketing communications experience in both corporate and agency environments.
Before FastStartPR, Kathy spent five years at IBM where she drove global media
relations efforts for the company's WebSphere/SOA initiatives resulting in extensive press coverage while helping IBM
earn the leadership position in a highly competitive market. In this role, she was also involved in driving advocacy
initiatives with academia, non-profits and industry associations as well as editing and contributing to industry books published
by IBM Press.
Prior to IBM,
Kathleen managed public relations efforts for infrastructure management software provider Concord Communications. In this
role, she led the company's communications campaigns in the U.S., UK, France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, and South Africa.
While at Concord, she secured the company's participation in a documentary on the Digital Divide and initiated media dialog
in The Hague with the Foreign Press Association regarding the impact of technology on global economies.
Before
joining Concord, she was an account director at Weber Shandwick, one of the world's largest public relations agencies.
During her seven years at Weber, Kathleen managed accounts that spanned start ups, mid-sized companies and large organizations
and was also involved in new business development efforts as well as training and development of staff.
She has guided small businesses on public relations strategy, led communications efforts for mergers & acquisitions,
and has fostered strong relationships with journalists, analysts and industry influencers.
As a published author, Kathleen has written bylines for the Boston
Globe and has penned countless executive bylines. Additionally, Kathleen is an adjunct faculty member at Emerson College
where she currently teaches Principles of Public Relations.
